Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch (Rift Valley Drive)
After breakfast, depart from Addis Ababa and begin your journey south through the scenic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, you will stop at the UNESCO-listed Tiya Stelae Field, famous for its ancient carved stone monuments. Continue driving through the fertile farmlands of the Gurage and Wolayta regions, enjoying panoramic views of green hills and valleys. By late afternoon, arrive in Arba Minch, known as “Forty Springs,” named after its natural groundwater forest and abundant water streams.

Day 2: Arba Minch – Jinka (Lake Chamo & Key Afer Market)
Early morning, take a boat trip on Lake Chamo, one of Ethiopia’s best wildlife experiences. You will see large populations of hippos and massive Nile crocodiles, some reaching over 5 meters in length, along with abundant birdlife. After the boat trip, continue your drive toward Jinka. On the way, visit the famous Key Afer Market (if scheduled on Thursday), one of the most vibrant tribal markets in the Omo Valley where multiple ethnic groups gather for trade and cultural exchange. Explore different sections of the market before continuing to Jinka.

Day 3: Jinka – Turmi (Mursi & Bana Tribes)
After breakfast, drive into Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, one of the most iconic communities in the Omo Valley. The Mursi are famous for their unique lip plates and strong cultural traditions. After your visit, continue your journey toward Turmi, stopping en route to visit the Bana people and experience their traditional lifestyle and villages. Arrive in Turmi in the afternoon.
Note: If traditional ceremonies such as bull jumping or dance rituals are taking place, your guide will inform you in advance, and participation may require additional arrangements.

Day 4: Turmi – Omorate – Dimeka Market – Hamer Village
After breakfast, drive to Omorate to visit the Dassanech (Geleb) people living near the Omo River. You will cross the river using a traditional local boat to visit their village and learn about their lifestyle. Continue to Dimeka Market (operating on Tuesday or Saturday), one of the most colorful Hamer tribal markets in the region. In the afternoon, return to Turmi and enjoy a guided walk to a nearby Hamer village, where you will experience daily life and cultural traditions of this famous pastoralist community.

Day 5: Turmi – Arba Minch (Karo & Konso Tribes)
After breakfast, drive to Murulle to visit the Karo tribe, known for their artistic body painting made from natural pigments such as soil, flowers, and animal materials. Enjoy stunning views of the Omo River from the village. Continue your journey to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape known for its terraced hills and wooden grave markers honoring ancestors and heroes. Learn about the Konso king and their unique agricultural traditions before continuing to Arba Minch.

Day 6: Arba Minch – Addis Ababa (Dorze Village & Departure)
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Addis Ababa. On the way, visit the Dorze village, famous for its beehive-shaped bamboo houses and skilled weaving traditions. The Dorze people are also known for their agricultural terraces and cultivation of enset (false banana plant). After the visit, continue driving through the Great Rift Valley, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant along the way. Arrive in Addis Ababa in the late afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a farewell cultural dinner with traditional music and dance performances before your international departure.
