Bale Mountains National Park Tour Packages
In the southeastern part of Ethiopia a magnificent place introduces the country to the world in terms of the beauty it abounds, the Bale Mountains National park. This area is formed of ancient volcanic rocks dissected by many rivers and streams that have cut deep gorges into the edges over the centuries. Mountain massifs and craggy peaks are some of the highest peaks formed and it makes the second highest mountain in Ethiopia at 4377m above sea level.
The high rainfall in the area together with the vast variation in altitude (1500-4377m) and topography result in rich floral diversity in the vegetation, grassy riverine plains and bush land, woodlands, abundant wild flowers, and the continents swathe of Afro alpine plants comprising of endemic species make part of the national park.
Seventy eight mammal species reside in this national park. The Bale Mountain is most famous and refuge of some endemic mammals such as the Mountain Nyala, the Ethiopian Wolf (nearly similar with the European fox), Menelik’s bushbuck, Bale Monkey. This site is a hot spot for other endemic wildlife and there are more endemic mammals found here than any other area of equal size in the world.
The national park welcomes explorers, researchers, and tourists to see and witness about its beauty and richness in nature in the most ideal months from November through February where the area gets blue skies in the day and stars in the nights.
