Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: History, Culture & Ethiopian Traditions
Upon breakfast, begin your exploration of Addis Ababa with a scenic drive to the historic Entoto Mountains, the birthplace of the Ethiopian capital. Situated at over 3,000 meters above sea level, Entoto offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and provides insight into the history of Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taytu, who established their first capital here. Visit the historic Entoto Maryam Church and Museum, one of Ethiopia’s most important religious and historical landmarks.
Continue to the Ethnological Museum, located within the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie at Addis Ababa University. The museum presents an outstanding collection showcasing Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage, diverse ethnic groups, traditional lifestyles, music, art, and history.
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the magnificent Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of Ethiopia’s most important Orthodox churches. Admire its beautiful architecture, impressive stained-glass windows, and the final resting place of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen.

Day 2: Heritage, Markets & Modern Addis
After breakfast, visit the National Museum of Ethiopia, home to the world-famous fossil “Lucy” (Dinkinesh), one of the oldest and most significant human ancestors ever discovered. The museum also houses remarkable archaeological collections, historical artifacts, royal treasures, and an impressive selection of Ethiopian art.
Continue to Merkato, Africa’s largest open-air market, where colorful stalls and bustling streets offer an authentic glimpse into daily life in Addis Ababa. Browse a fascinating variety of traditional handicrafts, spices, textiles, leather goods, coffee, incense, and locally produced items.
Following lunch, explore Unity Park, located within the grounds of the historic National Palace. The park combines Ethiopia’s imperial history with beautifully landscaped gardens, museums, cultural exhibitions, and indigenous wildlife, making it one of Addis Ababa’s premier attractions.
Before concluding your city tour, enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee at the legendary Tomoca Coffee, one of the country’s oldest and most iconic coffee houses. Return to your hotel or transfer to the airport.
